Why I need to watch what I say now…
I swerved to miss a guy who pulled in front of us last week.
Before I could say anything, I heard Asher say, “OH, come ON, Buddy!"
*Note: Fortunately, Asher piped up first. My response wouldn't have been as benign as his.

El Numero Uno
We celebrated Luke's birthday this week. (Note to self: quit having children in March)
I wanted to make a special dinner for Luke. But, that was a little tricky because Luke likes everything. However, since he has a particular fondness for French fries, we got him his own for his birthday.
I was thrilled to see that Luke loved his birthday cake. When he finished his cupcake there was chocolate. Chocolate. Everywhere.
I really wanted to get a picture of Luke in his birthday shirt, so I've washed it two days in a row and tried to get some good pictures of him in it. But, then, I realized I was only doing all that work, so that you, gentle blog readers, could see him in it. I realized it was a little weird to be scheduling our lives around photo opps for the blog. So, instead, here's a catalog picture of it. In case you still can't see it, it says, "El Numero Uno."
Yay, Luke! The big one year old!

the birthday boy
Asher is now 1, 2, 3! Let's not discuss how long it took him to learn that he is 3 instead of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 (he has to count how old he is, see video below).
We had a family birthday dinner for Asher on his birthday, complete with his favorites: spaghetti with red sauce and jello with mandarin oranges. Grandma Judy brought over a train cake that was super cute. And, she knows Asher well; the cargo car was full of raspberries, which was all Asher wanted from the cake (I know, it makes me wonder if he's my biological kid, too).
Happy Birthday, Asher!
Sick Lukey
Luke started throwing up a week ago, and today is the first day he's been well enough to get dressed and leave the house.
Poor kid! This is the face he's had the whole time he's been sick. Not our normal, squealing Lukey.
Nate and I also got it but recovered after a couple days. By some miracle, Asher has remained healthy.
We owe people a lot of favors. Nate's mom and dad took Asher the morning when Nate and I were at our worst. Anna got us some much needed baby Tylenol (and cookies!) when Luke had so much coming out of, well, everywhere that I couldn't put him in a car seat for 10 minutes to get it myself. And, my mom--we gave her what we had. Sorry!

Admit it, you wish you lived here right about now...
We've had a couple friends come see in 2008. We love that!
To the rest of you in cold, dark, wintery places, don't you want to come to sunny Arizona? We'll take you to the zoo--you'll have to wear sunblock, and you'll get hot!
You can pet the stingrays with Luke.
And, make friends with the giant frog like Asher (I had to coax Asher forever to get him to hold still long enough to take the picture with the frog, and then, when I go to take the picture, he holds her hand?!)
Mom, let's go home. It's time for us to take our naps.
Come on, you deserve a vacation :)
